Embark-en recently exhibited at the Brisbane Garden Expo at Rocklea Showgrounds, and it was a huge day for our family business.
It was great to see so many people stopping by the Embark-en stand, checking out the range and, most importantly, talking bonsai.
Beginners to Seasoned Enthusiasts
One of the best parts of the day was meeting such a wide range of people — from those completely new to bonsai through to seasoned enthusiasts with many years of experience.
Our Bonsai Beginner Starter Kits were particularly popular. These are deliberately basic kits, designed to give someone starting out a simple collection of useful bonsai essentials without making things unnecessarily complicated.
Having the opportunity to talk face-to-face about tools, substrates, wire and other supplies was also a great way to hear what people are using and looking for.
Standout Sellers
Our Wazakura Japanese Bonsai Tools were among the best sellers of the day, with plenty of interest from customers wanting to see and handle quality Japanese tools in person.
Our Annealed Copper Bonsai Wire was another standout. We source our copper in Australia and carefully anneal it ourselves, so it was great to talk with customers about the wire, the annealing process and how it's used in bonsai.
Our substrates, fertilisers and other bonsai essentials also received plenty of interest throughout the day.
More Than Just Sales
The Expo was also a great opportunity to meet and talk with other exhibitors, growers, nurseries and small businesses. There was plenty of shared knowledge, interesting conversations and new connections made throughout the day.
Events like this give us the chance to meet customers in person, talk bonsai and get a better understanding of what people would like to see from Embark-en as we continue developing the business and our range.

Our next event is the Gold Coast Tweed Bonsai Club Market Day on Saturday, 12 September 2026, from 10:00am–2:00pm at Carrara Community Centre, Nielsens Road, Carrara. Entry is free.
The Market Day will feature more than 20 sellers, with bonsai, pots, tools, accessories and plenty of advice from experienced bonsai enthusiasts.
Embark-en will be there with a selection of our bonsai tools, annealed copper wire, substrates and other bonsai essentials. Come by, have a look through the range and have a chat with us.
