About Embark-en
Embark-en is a family-owned bonsai supply business based in South East Queensland, Australia, created from a genuine and long-standing passion for bonsai.
My interest in bonsai began at an early age when my grandmother took me to the Koreshoff Bonsai Nursery in Castle Hill, NSW. I remember being amazed by the trees and the craftsmanship involved in creating them. Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the Koreshoff nursery before its closure. That first visit sparked a fascination with bonsai that has stayed with me ever since.
As that interest developed into a genuine passion for the art of bonsai, so did my appreciation for the importance of having access to the right tools, materials and supplies. That passion eventually led to the creation of Embark-en — a business centred around sourcing and supplying products that I genuinely value and would be happy to use myself.
Today, we carefully source bonsai tools, substrates, wire and supplies from Australia, Japan and beyond. Rather than trying to offer the largest possible range, our focus is on finding products that provide quality, functionality and genuine value, whether they're being used by someone working on their first tree or an experienced bonsai practitioner.
We also believe you should know what you're buying. We aim to provide as much useful and relevant information as possible about our products, helping you understand what they are, how they're used and whether they're right for you, so you can make an informed decision before purchasing.
We don't dropship. We stock what we sell. That's important to us. It means the products available through Embark-en are here with us in Australia, allowing us to see, handle and stand behind what we offer.
We also take a hands-on approach to a number of our products. Our Australian-sourced copper bonsai wire is carefully annealed by us here in Australia, while our packaged bonsai substrates are screened and prepared by hand to maintain the quality and consistency we expect.
Embark-en continues to grow alongside my own journey with bonsai. Today, my family and I are continuing to build the business together, constantly researching, testing and sourcing new products while staying true to why Embark-en was created in the first place.
We want to provide quality bonsai supplies at practical prices, backed by useful and honest product information so our customers can understand what they're buying and make informed decisions with confidence.
We're proud of what we've built so far, and even more excited about where Embark-en is heading.
